Wendy L. Patrick is a career prosecutor, presented by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court with the California Public Lawyer of the Year award from the State Bar’s Public Law Section, honored as one of the Daily Journal’s Top Professional Responsibility Lawyers for 2025, and named as one of the 2024 Top Professional Responsibility Lawyers by the State Bar of California. She was awarded the National District Attorneys Association 2025 Distinguished Faculty Award and honored with the 2023 Instructor of the Year Award by the California District Attorneys Association. Ms. Patrick has completed over 170 trials ranging from hate crimes to domestic violence to first-degree murder. Before becoming a prosecutor, she was a trial attorney and team leader in the San Diego Public Defender’s office.
Ms. Patrick is co-chair of the California District Attorneys Association Ethics Committee and High-Tech Committee, as well as a regular instructor. She is a past Chair and Advisor of the California State Bar Ethics Committee (Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct), and past Chair of the San Diego County Bar Association’s (SDCBA) Legal Ethics Committee where she served a six-year term. She is widely published in the field of legal ethics and teaches ethics nationally on a regular basis.
Ms. Patrick has been teaching and training for law enforcemet, educational institutions, and a variety of other groups and companies around the country on a regular basis for over twenty-five years. In addition to her legal credentials, Ms. Patrick holds a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a Master of Divinity degree summa cum laude from Bethel Seminary San Diego where she was awarded the Excellence in Preaching Award and the Zondervan Biblical Languages Award.
On a personal note, Ms. Patrick holds a purple belt in Shorin-Ryu karate, is a concert violinist with the La Jolla Symphony, and plays the electric violin professionally with a rock band, performing both locally and in Hollywood.
