Rene has been with a California-based police agency since 2009. He has been with the agency’s Computer Crimes Investigation Unit for the past 2 years as a digital forensic analyst and investigator. During his time with the unit he is responsible for investigating computer crimes against the State of California ranging from network intrusions against State agencies to child exploitation cases. He is also part of an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and has and taken on several cases. In addition to the investigation aspect, he is also responsible for handling digital forensics for the agency and Task Force, as well as other law enforcement agencies in need of a digital forensic analyst. He has assisted the Office of the United State Postal Inspector, United States Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, several District Attorney Offices throughout the State of California, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and several local allied law enforcement agencies. He has experience with the analysis of computers, smartphones, smartphone repair, vehicle infotainment systems and network systems. In order to fulfill his job duties, he has successfully obtained computer forensic certifications through the California Department of Justice, the National Computer Forensics Institute and other proprietary digital forensic software companies.
