Philip Staiger began his career after graduating from Swiss Federal Polytechnic, with workstation-level 3D graphics hardware before Nvidia and ATI became household names, working at San Diego, CA based Megatek Corporation. He also worked as a product evangelist and trainer in consumer-level and professional grade 3D design and animation, before joining a cyber security company (ESET) for 5 years. Thereafter he joined SYSTRAN Software where he developed his expertise in machine translation, both rules based (RBMT) and statistical (SMT), then eventually the new neural (NMT). He is versed in deployment and configuration of translation servers and how to train specialized engines for special domains and use cases or build them out for new languages.
