Trainer and Consultant, MelKai Consulting, LLC
United States
Melissa Kaiser is a licensed social worker with over 15 years of experience in anti-human trafficking, trauma response, and multidisciplinary team development. She specializes in trauma-informed approaches, vicarious trauma, and officer wellness—particularly in high-stress and trauma exposed fields such as cybercrime. Melissa currently serves as Director of Advocacy for the National Child Protection Task Force (NCPTF) and consults nationally with agencies including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC), and the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). She previously worked under a state law enforcement agency as North Dakota’s first Human Trafficking Navigator and Victim/Witness Specialist, leading statewide efforts to improve investigations, victim response, and collaboration—including with Tribal Nations. As the creator of the first wellness breakout room at the National Cyber Crimes Conference, Melissa has led innovative efforts to support officer wellness and address vicarious trauma in digital investigations. She has trained over 15,000 professionals and frequently presents at national conferences such as Dallas Crimes Against Children, International Association of Human Trafficking Investigators, and National Cyber Crimes. Melissa’s work bridges the gap between investigative teams and victim services, helping agencies build resilient, trauma-informed practices without compromising operational effectiveness. She was a nominee for YWCA’s Women of the Year.
