John Barahona is a Trainer and Technical Support Specialist for Amped Software, a leading developer of image and video forensic solutions for law enforcement agencies worldwide. Since joining Amped in 2023, John has trained over 200 personnel in the use of Amped FIVE software and has delivered numerous lectures and workshops on forensic video analysis at major conferences, including LEVA, National Cyber Crimes, Northwest ICAC, National Technical Investigators Association, and Amped Connect. He also serves as an instructor at the National Computer Forensics Institute, where he teaches the fundamentals of video forensics and the practical application of Amped FIVE software. In addition to training, he provides technical support to Amped users across North America, applying his extensive forensic expertise to support and strengthen digital investigations. Before joining Amped, John retired as a detective after a distinguished 27-year career in law enforcement. He served in both the United States Air Force Security Police and the Mesa Police Department, concluding his public service with the Arizona Department of Public Safety in 2023. During his tenure, John spent more than seven years as the sole video and audio forensic detective in the department's Computer Forensics Unit, where he specialized in the analysis of digital evidence. John holds a bachelor's degree with honors in Computer Information Systems, with a concentration in Computer Forensics, from DeVry University. He is also a LEVA Certified Forensic Video Technician, a GIAC Certified Computer Forensic Examiner, and an Amped FIVE Certified Examiner.
