a. Senior Deputy District Attorney/Digital Evidence Specialist Cathee Hansen is a prosecutor with over 30 years’ experience at the trial court and appellate levels. Cathee is a subject matter expert in search and seizure law and digital evidence, and provides assistance and training to law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies as well as federal task forces, both locally and nationally. After spending almost 20 years litigating felony appeals for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, she moved to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, where she spearheaded the development of their Digital Evidence Unit, holding the position of Director of that Unit until she moved to the 17th Judicial District in June 2023. She currently works as the Digital Evidence Specialist at the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Brighton, Colorado, and oversees the office’s digital evidence work as well as provides guidance to investigators and prosecutors with a myriad of issues involving digital evidence from the investigative to trial stages of a criminal case. In addition, she has created a jurisdiction-wide Digital Evidence Working Group as well as a centralized database for digital evidence search warrants and other resources accessible to all law enforcement agencies in the district. She has been the project manager for three federal grant projects related to digital evidence and remains active in digital evidence and forensics-related groups and organizations.
