
Paul Sherwin

Paul Sherwin is the Director of North Carolina Private Protective Services, where he leads a staff of 21 state employees responsible for administering the directives of the Private Protective Services Board and Alarm Systems Licensing Board. Combined, the two boards oversee 32,000 security guards, alarm system technicians and armored car guards, and 4,400 licensees, including digital forensics examiner professionals, private investigators, and more. Previously, Paul worked in sworn law enforcement positions with the Washington County (Oregon) Sheriff’s Office, the Durham County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office, and the Norfolk Southern Railway Police Department. Paul is a veteran of the Oregon Army National Guard and U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of captain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte. Paul currently serves as the president if the International Association of Security and Investigative Regulators.
