Cellebrite Advanced Smartphone Analysis (CASA)

May 30 – June 3 (Pre-Conference)

Cellebrite Advanced Smartphone Analysis (CASA) is a five-day (35-hour) advanced-level course designed to provide training in forensic recovery of application data from smartphones. The CASA class is recommended for practitioners familiar with Physical Analyzer and graduates of the CCPA course. In the CASA course, participants will learn how to decode information not commonly decoded by forensic tools. Attendees will also use third-party software and Python scripts to decode, analyze, verify, and validate findings.

CASA has recently been updated to 5-days, providing students with the most up-to-date digital forensics knowledge.

  • Focuses more on interesting/valuable artifacts, the process – and what to do when the big red easy button doesn’t find what you are looking for.
  • Deeper dive into SQLite databases explaining how they can be used to find data not parsed by the tools.
  • Revised iOS and Android sections to focus more on Operating System specific artifacts found in each OS.
  • Additional module focusing on App Deconstruction to explain what steps can be taken to understand and manually parse unsupported applications.
  • Additional module on basic Python scripting to showcase the value of scripting languages in searching and parsing large datasets.
