Magnet AXIOM Examinations (AX200) (Pre-Conference)

Wednesday, May 31 – Saturday, June 3

AXIOM Examinations (AX200) is an intermediate level course, designed for participants who are familiar with the principles of digital forensics, and seeking to use Magnet AXIOM for their investigations. At the conclusion of the four-day training event, participants will have the knowledge and skills they need to acquire forensic images from computer and smartphone evidence; configure AXIOM Process to recover the most-relevant artifacts; use AXIOM Examine to explore the evidence in greater depth, simplifying analysis activities by intuitively linking facts and data; and, preparing key artifacts for collaboration with other stakeholders. Each module of instruction employs extensive scenario-based exercises, to reinforce the learning objectives, and further enhance the participant’s understanding of AXIOM’s functionality, and its application within the forensic workflow.

Objectives:

  • Installation of AXIOM and its core components, AXIOM Process and AXIOM Examine
  • Configuration of AXIOM Process for the acquisition and processing of digital evidence, including the Single Stage Evidence Processing capabilities of AXIOM
  • Analyzing case data in AXIOM Examine
  • Utilization of hash sets, keywords, regular expressions, and filters to identify key artifacts
  • Navigation within the evidence set, using the Artifact, File System, and Registry explorer functionality
  • Application of bookmarks, tags, and comments to prepare case evidence for exporting and reporting
  • Using AXIOM Examine visualization tools to emphasize user behavior patterns
  • Enhance participant understanding of key artifacts; their locations and formats; the user and system behaviors which created them; and, the manner in which AXIOM recovers them
  • Building intuitive reports and sharing and managing portable cases with stakeholders

Magnet IEF Examinations (IEF200) (Pre-Conference)

Wednesday, May 31 – Saturday, June 3

IEF Examinations (IEF200) is an intermediate level course, designed for participants who are familiar with the principles of digital forensics, and seeking to use Magnet IEF for their investigations. After the four-day training event, participants will have the knowledge and skills they need to configure Magnet IEF to recover key artifacts from computer and smartphone evidence platforms; use the IEF Report Viewer to explore the evidence, link facts, data, and potential user activities across multiple evidence platforms; and, prepare key artifacts for collaboration with other stakeholders. Each module of instruction employs extensive scenario-based, hands-on exercises in Magnet IEF, to reinforce the learning objectives, and further enhance the participant’s understanding of Magnet IEF functionality, and its application within the forensic workflow.

Objectives:

  • Installation of IEF
  • Configuration of case-specific and global search profiles in IEF
  • Analyzing case data in IEF Report Viewer
  • Utilization of hash sets, keywords, regular expressions, and filters to identify key artifacts

  • IEF Report Viewer tips for achieving greater investigative efficiency
  • Using IEF visualization tools to emphasize user behavior patterns

  • Building intuitive reports and sharing portable cases with stakeholders

Magnet Forensics MCFE – AXIOM On-Site Exam (Post-Conference)

Wednesday, June 7

The MCFE – AXIOM exam will be offered on Wednesday, June 7 from 12:30PM – 4:00PM. If you have completed the pre-requisites, or if you attend and successfully complete the AXIOM Examinations Course in Myrtle Beach, then you will be eligible to write the exam.

The MCFE – AXIOM certification covers all areas of functionality of AXIOM – acquisition and extraction, analysis and examination, and sharing and reporting.

The prerequisites for the MCFE – AXIOM are:

  • The successful completion of the AXIOM Examinations course, or
  • Successful completion of IEF Essentials and the AXIOM - Transition courses, or
  • Successful completion of IEF Examinations and AXIOM – Transition course

The MCFE – IEF exam will be offered on Wednesday, June 7 from 12:30PM – 4:00PM. If you have completed the pre-requisites, or if you attend and successfully complete the IEF Examinations Course in Myrtle Beach, then you will be eligible to write the exam.

The MCFE – IEF certification covers the functionalities of IEF, our premier artifact searching and recovering tool.

The prerequisites for the MCFE – IEF are:

  • Successful completion of the IEF Essentials – Computer course, or
  • Successful completion of IEF Examinations
